A Michael Hurdzan/Dana Fry design, this Pittsburgh golf course opened just recently in 1999 to stellar reviews from just about every recognized golf publication in the country. It measures 6,944 yards from the tips, and features elevated tees and spectacular scenery. One reviewer insists that the course is so beautiful in the fall it's "almost surreal." Green fees are $80 in the off-season, $135 during the peak season.

This facility just 16 miles north of Pittsburgh is host to an 18-hole Championship course (7,021 yards), and a 9-hole executive course. The O.J. This Pittsburgh golf course is just 15 minutes from the Pittsburgh International Airport. Opened in 1971, the course was designed by Arnold Palmer and Don Nagode. It measures a healthy 7,120 yards from the tips, and the greens have a reputation as being the best in western Pennsylvania. Green fees are very modest, $40-$65.

Stoughton Acres Golf Club
904 Sunset Dr., Butler PA 16001; Tel. 724.285.3633
This Pittsburgh golf course is a bit of a hike from Pittsburgh, about 40 miles away, but for visiting golfers in the area, Stoughton Acres Golf Club is well worth the trip. It's considered the best-kept secret in Western Pennsylvania; so don't tell the locals you heard it here. Golf Digest gave it four-and-a-half stars, and ranks it in the top 50 golf values in the country. Green fees are remarkably in the $20-$30 range.
